Lottery warns for Scam with their name

Quote:
Advice about scams · Comunicate
elGordo.com would like to inform the general public that a number of groups of criminals, of various nationalities, are using the prestige and the commercial names of the Spanish Lottery by fraudulent means in several countries, particularly in countries in the south-west of Asia and the Pacific, and countries on the American continent. They move with ease around the whole world and use mobile telephones, PO boxes, provisional or false addresses (including real addresses of official Spanish organisations), as well as names that bring to mind prestigious institutions ("el Gordo", la Primitiva", "European Lottery Commission", etc.) They also forge the printed sheets and signatures of various banks.

In order to carry out the fraud, the procedure that is generally followed consists of informing the potential victim that they have been the lucky winner of a substantial prize (even if they have not participated in any draw), although they cannot collect this prize until they have paid an amount going towards the taxes, bank costs, delivery costs or insurance processing, etc. Usually, the fraudster warns their potential victim that the deadline to pay these charges is very soon and that their right to collect the prize is about to expire.

Spanish Lottery prizes are always free of taxes, and the Spanish Police has already arrested and subjected to legal procedures some of the members of groups who were operating from Spain.

Therefore, when you are offered "prizes" that seem to be linked to the Spanish Lottery, DO NOT PAY any amount. Likewise, we would be grateful if you could inform local authorities of these crimes and send a copy of the false documentation to the following address:

Are you the winner of some incredible prize?
In recent weeks email "spam" and letters have been sent to many people around the world claming they have won an "El Gordo" prize or any other kind of spanish lottery as "Primitiva". After that they request people send ‘taxes and processing fees’ to post office b oxes in the hope of receiving rewards for lottery tickets that they have never bought.

This "companies" or professional swindlers, always sent telephone numbers out of Spain (spanish prefix is 34), or if they are in Spain they use a mobile phone number (wich you can buy without identification) this numbers start on 6. All spanish companies should have a number of this kind (+34) 9xx xxx xxx. The only way of being the winner on spanish lotteries is buying the physical tickets, considered by the spanish government the only prove to claim a prize.

Here in ElGordo.com we sell this tickets, and we can send them to you or give you an bank certicate that you are playing this lottery, endorsed to your name.

We place in the police knowledge every scam that people report to us, because in our opinion this is a very serious threat to the credibility of lotteries generally and some lotteries specifically.

Here you have some cases that people have reported us via fax, mail, or in the forums. We place them here only as an information and we do not take any legal responsibility, because we do not have any legal proof. Please send every new information to our mail scams@elgordo.com

Legally, we can only advice that if you do not have the ticket you are not a winner.
