There was a thread in this forum about Glassescrafter.com that began with an honest enquiry into the validity of this business.
After much intensive debate, and some heated exchanges that started to drift away from the main topic, the thread was closed with my post that included the following statement:

I have opened this thread for one specific reason - to allow the owners of GlassesCrafter - at their request - to post a response to the enquiries that were made, and to resolve some issues that were outstanding from the previous thread.
Rather than piece through the original thread, I have removed it in its entirety, and once the response has been posted by Glassescrafter on here, I shall leave this thread open for any posts to be made by anyone wishing to make further enquiries, or (with corroborating evidence) share their personal and genuine experiences within an appropriate context. Please note that I will allow neither glowing endorsements, nor any abusive flames.

I ordered and received my new specs from Glassescrafter, ordered and delivered within 2 weeks (May 2008). The quality of both the frames and persrciption are excellent and I have no problem in using this company in the future.

I have ordered 2 pairs of glasses paid £278 on card and then was later promted to pay another £50 which i think maybe for varifocals , i have sent a few emails asking what the £50 is for but no reply also i have asked for there telephone number no reply anyway since this was only ordered 2 days ago i thought i would have received a reply from them just to confirm the order but since it is a public holiday i will wait so i will keep you informed of the progress and post another tread in a weeks time

I have received an email from glassesscrafter on 26th may stating they have received my order and now will take 12 days for the order to be made up so by rights should be wearing them by the 16th of june , however I will keep you all posted of the progress I look forward to receiving them the glasses i have ordered was 2 pairs. A pair of E ARMANI EA2723 682 ultra thin lenses and a pair of MONT BLANC MB122 F93 with the high index 1.67 transition lenses that react to the sunlight and have very thin lenses I have a fairly high perscription, so we will see soon anyway as i said i will keep you all informed of the progress.

on the 8 th june i have sent a message to glassescrafter on how is the progress of my glasses they have sent me a reply today . with the special type of lenses that have been ordered may take a little longer than expeced , oh well i feel a bit dissappointed but hey i have a reply so i am not in the dark but i have to say i cant help waiting for them , i will keep you all posted of the progress i will wait untill 12 th june to ask again of the progress

well I cant see my self wearing these glasses by the 16/6/08.
on the 14/6/08 I had sent another email to glassescrafter just asking on how these glassses are coming along they . On the same day i received an email and promised that they would look into it and try to get them sent out asap within the next few days.
Looks very promising !!

Yeah whatever, I don't know any American that would ever say that with a straight face let alone tell a company that. And convieniently every single post refers to returning and buying more eyeglasses. Hmmm, can't make a buck off of a cheap knock-off, have to come back for more. I suppose if the lenses are crafted right then its okay right? No, that would be saying I support knock-offs and I don't.

But I am really confused at the moment, in one of your email, you told us the prescription was wrong due to the optician gave you the information with mistake? Please see the following:

To make matters worse in now looks like the opticians have got the right eye prescription wrong !!! I
can't believe my luck!!
Is that means the prescription on your original order was wrong? This guest book is not fake. Some of the comments are sending by our customer through email. That final comment is not from a customer in China. This is the first time for us to hear about the Nigerian software.

Eric i am very surprised you had not sent an email regarding my prescription my original prescription was sent to the email address above and when ordering the 2 pairs i also gave prescriptions and they were not wrong and you have not sent any email to me and i have Not sent any other prescription to you other than the one original one as below. and please understand that i am not in anyway stating in anyway that glasescrafters is a con but I was very upset when looking for glasses your company came up in every search and i felt that this must be a good site to buy from but after i had paid the cash I had an extra £50 to pay which i now know was for the veridical, I had tried to look for your Telephone number but could not find one then tried to get personal reviews from the outside public again NO ! could not find anyone , then i felt a great big lump in my trought and a feeling of Have I been done ! I sent emails to you with no reply , but it was holiday time so i should wait I found this site fraud watchers so i signed up and thought if you are a fraud company then we have to do something and as mistakes can happen , holidays etc and after all we are only human so i will carry on letting everyone know the progress of these 2 pairs of glasses it makes NO odds to me if it takes 2 weeks or 4 as Long as you deliver this is a truthfully statement and i would be happy to give any assistance to anyone

today 17 June I had received 2 emails from glassescrafter and they have promised that my glasses will be with me very soon and get this matter sorted out and that if there is any problem with the lenses to get back in touch with them and they will resolve the issue, { well i hope i wont need to }
anyway I hope this posting helps anyone who is planning on using them as it does seem they are genuine, we will see! I will keep everyone informed of the progress until i receive them both.

well as promised I said I will give you all a run down on the glasses that I have ordered , the armani pair E2723 68Z . Have not arrived, INSTEAD a pair of police V8154 HAS ARRIVED , THAT I DID NOT ORDER as you can see from thread 7 30th may 08,
They first sent me an applogy and told me the glasses are out of stock and that as it was there fault they would replace them for free,
then they send me a reply that i did not order this pair . OK !
. then they ask me to reorder on the google order page , but you cant even get through to this page , i have explained this to them , as this was out of stock they asked me to choice another frame so i have this is
E ARMANI 2724 BROWN WITH TRANS ULTRA THIN LENSES,
they have my perscription so we will wait and see
on the 27th june I received the MONTBLANC they are fine but the magnifaction seems very strong but every lense can be slightly differant so just have try to get used to it , I will keep everyone posted if they do send me the armani pair

Well we will see how they keep up to there promise .

I have to close this statement about glassescrafter , as they have sent a pair of armani frames as they promised for free, I have to say I am pleased with them and also my other frames I received , I have taken them all to opticians around in bristol and they have all told me that the frames are genuine so this has made me feel very assured and pleased. if anyone needs any proof you can contact me as i have all emails, photos,delivery postage etc, I also would like to say to Glassescrafter I am sorry that I have put them through the grind stone of taking there company through fraud watchers , but this would not have happened if the admin side was steeped up on, also I would like to thank fraud watchers for helping me through this whole affair , and a big thank you to all.

I appreciate the update to your particular experience, and thank you for posting this information.
It is good when we do hear of genuine and honest companies, and are more than happy to keep these threads open for the search engines to be able to pick up the positives as well as the negatives.
I would still like to hear from Eric regarding some of the earlier points raised in this thread, but certainly for now, well done to Glassescrafter for maintaining your promise of customer service; long may it continue,

glassescrafter not true to their word
Glasses Crafter have Messed me about .... after about 10 emails back and forth for a refund on my glasses. They confirmed receipt of my glasses i sent back to them. They were unsuitable. They are still trying to get out of giving me a refund. They are not true to their word as it is alot of hassle to get your money back if you are an unhappy customer! They are using the excuse they have an issue with Paypal and cannot refund me at this particular time: see their email below:

Im happy to hang on until they resolve their "issue with paypal". Why won't they just give me a refund and stop the excuses. I do not want another pair of frames , just my hard earnt cash.
