PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Customs inspectors in Philadelphia have seized cargo arriving from Nigeria that contained bogus bank checks totaling more than $655,000.

U.S. Customs officers say the parcel contained an envelope stuffed with 53 fraudulent checks drawn against several banks.

They say the package arrived Aug. 16 aboard a commercial passenger flight and was destined for Kansas.

Customs inspectors in Philadelphia have seized more than $2.2 million worth of fraudulent bank checks, traveler's checks and money orders since October.
