There are hundreds, if not thousands, of these around the internet. They are Advance Fee Loans, and people getting caught out are those not aware of the laws applicable, or are too desperate for money to care to look before leaping.

1. In most countries, it is ILLEGAL to charge an upfront fee prior to issuing a loan. Any fees would normally be added to the principal sum, then paid when the loan is finally delivered.

2. In most countries there are financial regulators which govern financial businesses, such as banks, credit card companies and lenders. A license would generally be needed to trade, and it would be doubly difficult if the lender was located in a foreign land, and probably also illegal or impossible.

Whilst the points above are very general, this type of scam is very obvious, just like any other financial based scam.

Anyone asking for payment prior to giving you money is nothing more than a scammer. EVERY email offer of a cheap loan is a scam. EVERY advertisement for cheap loans on sites such as Craigslist, is also a scam in one way or another.

EVERY loan offer which mentions ANY African nation ESPECIALLY Nigeria, is 100% guaranteed to be a scam.

Sutherland Lending

I have filed complaints and written everyone I can think of in regards to the money Sutherland Lending or whoever these people are scammed me out of - $1792.00!

I don't understand why it is so hard for the authorities to track them down. The phone number is no longer in service, and their website is no longer up - BUT, these are not free services - someone had to set up a phone number acct., and the website acct. - someone had to be billed and paid for these services. And........ someone had to pick up the money that was transferred.
Shouldn't be so hard to catch these people.

Please read this post.

It explains several of the reasons why you can't just report a loan scam and expect an arrest by the end of the week.

You should practise what you preach.

A simple search on Google proves that the company name (the real and genuine one) does in fact exist. WEBSITE. Next time you decide to hurl YOUR opinions at members, make sure that YOU do extensive research. WAKE UP!!

Accomodative Financial Solutions is by all appearance legitimate and doesn't fall into the advance fee loan scams that are the subject of this thread.

I've edited Jen37's list.

Edited AND Updated List of Advance Fee Loan Scam Companies

This list has now been edited and UPDATED to include those companies which are now actively victimizing the innocent and uninformed to send monies to Canada for loans that do not exist. I have provided the active website addresses next to the company names. All other companies listed here are no longer active to my knowledge. In addition, please be advised that the scammers have been known to steal company names from legitimate companies. The difference, however, lies in the fact that the fraudulent companies are not LLC (Liscensed Lending Companies), do not have legitimate street address locations, or landlines. If you know of a company listed here that is "legitimate" please help to inform them that their name has been illegally used minus the LLC of course.
