A 32-year-old Evansville woman lost about $2,500 after falling for a "Mystery Shopper" scam, according to an Evansville Police Department report
The woman reportedly received a letter in the mail from Corporate Survey Services asking her to take surveys of area restaurants for their company. The letter mentioned a prior company the victim had previously done similar work for legitimately and included a check for about $2,500, police said.
Instructions with the check directed the woman to cash it, keep a portion of the money and send the rest back via Western Union.
According to the report, the woman did so last month and then filled out a survey about Red Lobster.
