All those email addresses are free and anonymous. The phone numbers are cellphones, no doubt prepaid and anonymous. You have no way of knowing who you are really dealing with.

Real companies do not behave like this. It is, however, typical of scammers.

Any job offer that asks you to pay money up front is almost certainly a scam.

It's a scam

I have worked in Nigeria before for a international oil company, there is no such thing as a DPR certificate. The oil company just assist you with getting a visa for Nigeria and they also pay for everything and not you. They will also pay your money into the bank account of your choice in your own country. They will arrange all accommodation and flights to get you there and back and will even supply a armed guard to travel with you from the airport to the hotel.
Yes it is dangerous in Nigeria but if you stick yo the security rules ans regulations and do not go out and look for trouble it is not to bad there.

It is a scam. Seadrill offered me $19,500 per month plus one months salary upfront.

There is no such thing as a Dept or Petroleum Resources in Nigeria. Please do not pay them, or it is goodbye to your dollars.

They even do not ask how old are you, a 90 year old man can even apply. They just give you the job.

I told them that my visa and work permit are still valid in Nigeria, now they are so queried , I am just been cut of from there website.

SALARY:US$25,500.00 monthly/take-home (After tax), Dollars or Euros equivalent depending on home country and currency preference.

JOB LOCATION: LAGOS STATE

START DATE:You are to resume with Seadrill on the 5TH December 2011.

JOB PROCEEDINGS / REQUIREMENTS:
Upon your acceptance of this offer, the following below must be provided for further proceedings. You are expected to provide us with your international passport and DEPARTMENT OF PETROLEUM RESOURCES CERTIFICATE (DPR).

CONTRACT DURATION: 36 months (Liable for upward review depending on your commitment and expertise).
DURATION OF WORK PERIODS: 28 days work 28 days pay leave.

WORKTIME:Work time shall be 40 hours workweek for the 36 months contract term.Any work performed beyond the normal 40 hrs a week, work time, shall be due for an overtime benefit to be paid at $300.00 per hour.

MOBILIZATION:
The first 1 (one) months salary shall be paid in advance before consultants embark on journey to assume duty. This is to enable You settle all domestic needs before travel. As such no excuses will be entertained on assumption of duty relating to default. Your first one month salary, following the official procedures has been deposited with the FOREIGN TRUST INSURANCE COMPANY (F.T.I.C). This insurance company is in service with the Seadril Worldwide. Upon your acceptance of this offer, and provision of your Scanned copy of international passport, and your DPR certificate you shall be due for the issue of Expatriate one months salary to ensure glitch preparations of your travel documents before the resumption date. However, your resumption date is very near, this is due to the previous holidays/breaks encountered in the past. Therefore you are to make possible arrangements so as to meet – up with the given resumption date(s).

ACCOMMODATION: First class accommodation will be provided for you. Quality single or family accommodation in Company communities only as necessitated by employee.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFIT PACKAGES:

TRAVEL ALLOWANCE: employer for each intercontinental trip shall pay US$3,000.00 flat rate travel/entertainment allowance, to employee.

OFFICE ASSETS: Employees are entitled to a lab top.

LOCAL TRANSPORT: Vehicles and other means of transport shall be
adequately provided for.

NOTE: You must act according to our instruction, as we shall provide you with details of contact persons who you are to contact in the Nigerian embassy in your country for your relevant travel documents. After you have been issued your one months salary, your immigration permit papers shall be released by the Nigerian Immigration Service to you, then we shall send your name/file to the Nigerian embassy and provide you with official directions to meet and liaise with our embassy authorities in your country.

NOTE THAT EXPATRIATES WHO DO NOT HAVE THE DEPARTMENT OF PETROLEUM RESOURCES CERTIFICATE ARE EXPECTED TO CONTACT THE AGENCY IN CHARGE OF THE PROCESSING OF THE CERTIFICATE WITH THE BELOW ADDRESS FOR FURTHER ARRANGEMENT ON THEIR (DPR) DOCUMENTS AS NO EXPATRIATE SHALL BE ALLOWED TO WORK IN NIGERIA WITHOUT PROPER DOCUMENTS. SECONDLY, THE PAYMENT FOR THE ACQUISITION OF THE DPR CERTIFICATE HAS TO BE PAID BY EMPLOYEE AND NOT BY Seadril OFFSHORE LIMITED.
