Scam targeting Avon Representative

I too just received the same thing! The woman's name is Tammi Mullins and she claimed she worked for Stewart Talent Elite Model agency.

I just received this same type of email. Someone telling me they were part of TLW Modeling & Promotions, requesting items, claiming they will send me a cashiers check.

Unregistered, you have forgotten a very important item in your post; what is the email address of this scammer?

I to have been caught in this scam. I cashed the check at my bank, and everything seemed legit. I didn't know about the scam until the police arrested me for passing a bad check. Now, not only do I have to prove that I'm innocent, I'll also have to pay back $2,000 to the bank. Not to mention the cost of the lawyer to help me get out of this. Here's a copy of the original email.

I received a 'New Contact Request' today that looked legitimate and when I responded with a request for a phone number I received the following email. It's the first time I received anything like this in the 5 years that I've been an Avon rep. I'm glad that I checked here before being suckered in.

The subject of the response was 'how u doing babe and am glad to hear back from u babe'

Can you please post the email address of your scammer, as well as any other pertinent details that you may have?

My little sister did some searching and found that there is a TLW Modeling and Promotions listed on www.nyphotographics.com/Agencies/States/il.htm unfortunately the number 312/645-0880 that is listed is disconnected. According to Google maps the address that is listed TLW Modeling & Promotions, 101 W Grand Ave Chicago, IL 60610-4272 happens to be a dating service of some sort called It's Just Lunch and the number is 312/644-9999.
I hope this helps and as events unfold i will be more then happy to post.

my sister contacted It's Just Lunch which is an office building and it is owned by a reality company by the name of Friedman Properties, sis contacted them this morning and they will be contacting their legal team and will be doing their own investigation with the help of all info my sister has found.

It was too good to be true when I got an email from this lady. I am a new AVON rep and I will admit that I was excited. After researching/Googling the name TLW Modeling & Productions in Chicago, IL I ended up on Fraud Watchers and I am ever so grateful!

my hearing has been continued until January. Apparently the police department that had arrested me has decided to open an investigation, all the information that my little sister found was also turned over to my lawyer and to the police department, my computer will be turned over to the police department so that they can hack into my hard drive in the hopes of tracing emails from this individual. Got a message last week from Wendy Cusimano about wanting avon products. So I got some products and replies. That's when I found your website and found the exact e-mail from her #235(I think). She just e-mailed me about the Fedx and my husband had just gotten the package when I came running out of the house to send it back. Am soooo glad that I had seen your website before it went too far. She had said that I was to cash the check and send her the difference cause it had her traveling money accidently included. Told her that she should look for someone else cause I don't have the time to do the amount of running that she is requiring. Just one thing to mention. Could you please have the fraud warning farther up on the modeling agencies google search page. I didn't see it the first time I check about the modeling agency and almost fell for the whole scam.

My daughter is a very new Avon rep and still quite young. I have had a real ordeal convincing her she was in the middle of a scam.

The scammer is cindyplusjones@yahoo.com. Following is the last correspondence to my daughter:

"Good Morning to you <removed>,hope you're having a great time?I have just had my husband call Fedex to know why you have not gotten the check and i have been told that it will be delivered to you today Via Fedex with the tracking number (795446909552). Once you receive it,all you are to do is to have it OVERNIGHT DEPOSITED in your bank account and once it clears,i am gonna need you to deduct the money for my Order and have the balance sent to my Daughter's Wedding planner's information Below via WESTERN UNION.
NAME : DONNA MARIE LINEMAN
CITY : PITTSBURGH
STATE : PA
ZIP-CODE : 15205
I will be Awaiting the Following Informations as soon as you have sent the money to Her today so that my surgery tomorrow can commence tomorrow....Hope to do more business with you in Future..Below are the information i require you to mail back after you might have sent the money

The troubling thing is the FedEx # is a good number and was tracked to our neighborhood but it was refused by the recipient which wasn't my daughter. Luckily, I have been able to nip this in the bud before my daughter really got into some serious trouble. She is more aware now of the evil that lurks behind an innocent email.

I received two emails, the one from the "Catherine" person and one from a Linda Peterson. That email is lhm3322@gmail.com. I'm really ticked off that these people are targeting Avon reps. How rude! Unfortunately I did order the products for "Linda", but have yet to receive the check. I will not cash it or attempt to cash it. I just wonder what I should do if I get it. I sure hope that word gets out to every rep in the nation about these people before it's too late. Good luck everyone and watch your backs!

If you receive the cheque, take it to your local police with the email exchange you have had with the fraudster and include the link to this thread, so that they may see this has been ongoing for a good while.
