Hello,
Is this company a scammer ?
We have been approached by this company in the month of April 2011. They have specified technical drawings which make us believe that they are genuine buyers. Then after a month long communication and negotiations they sent us an invitation letter (required by the Chines Consulate foe applying for a visa). We applied for two visas bases on these letter of invitation. We land up in China at their office to sign official contract. The contract was negotiated and they put forth a demand for margin money as advance as they need to provide this information to the Chinese government to notorise the contract documents. They even wanted us to share the notarisation fees but did not agree saying that we'll be notarising it in India and they'll have to share that fees.
We have transferred from India an amount of USD 8,280 to their company against quality margin as specified in the contract. E-mail correspondence continued till 9th June 2011. They made one more request that in order to transfer the advance payment to India, they have spent a certain amount to bribe the bank officials and hence this bribe money has to be shared. We point blank refused to share that amount.Thereafter, on their due date of 5th June, they requested a delay of five days and assured us the advance will be transfered on 10th June. On reminding them on the 9th, they replied that due to Dragon Boat Festival the remittance of contract amount advance is delayed and the same will be done by June 15th. Thereafter there is no further email from them. No reply to our emails sent to them. Then the mobile numbers are also switched off and the land lines are just blank.
During our visit to their office, they had produced certificates of registration of their company (unfortunately in Chinese) and also certificates of taxes paid (also in Chinese). We took some photographs of Mr Li LiGang, the general Manager of the company and also Ms Yang his Secretary-cum-interpretor. We would like to initiate action against this kind of scammers to ensure others are not duped like us.

There is; you would have to hire a lawyer in China to file suit against them. This would probably require that you physically travel to China at some point in time as well.

Another Similar Scam

Here is one I was just a part of that seems very similar.

They provided technical drawings of products they wanted us to produce, we negotiated for close to a month on delivery dates, and pricing, nothing of the notary fee or 1% quality guarantee fee was mentioned until I got in the meeting with them. At that moment I didn't feel comfortable about the situation, so he left to get copies of the new contract (that we negotiated for close to 3 hrs) and I never heard back from him.

This person I dealt with didn't speak English and had an interpreter, I just had the feeling she didn't know what was going on and was merely there to translate.

I would think the local authorities could track this down by their phone numbers or something. Anyway please add this name to the list of fraudulent companies to stay away from.

Please read: Chinese Fake Contract Import/Export "Guilin" Scam This company certainly appears to be running this kind of scam. Deal with them further at your peril.

This is the domain registration for szshuangshuo.com Two more big red flags. The domain was only registered July 14, 2011 and only for one year! The chances of this being a legitimate company are extremely small. Please read: Identifying Obvious Scam Websites

Kunming AoYang Import Export Trade Co

This Company I believe looking to scam. They request a large volume order. We are officially invited by CEO with no name to come to China. Like there is to be reverence for the unknown Chinese CEO....give me a break. Now while I am in China I will get to sit with the CEO and sign the contract and deal with bank transfer formalities. Than in two weeks we can expect large large (T/T) deposit. This dialogue has followed the same pattern of scams this site has posted. Thank you it confirmed my actions to request references of US business they have negotiated business with. To request the almighty mythical CEO visit the USA. Hey visit our factory see the product, touch the product we can discuss the contract here or by email. Finally I requested an ICP International Company Profile that is performed by the Export Finance Center. You know what happened....the emails stopped.

For all I know the website and emails are from Dirty Frank my neighbor who lives in his mothers basement. Not happy about the time wasted!!

Smile Thank you for Helping

Dear All,

I came across your website while googling to see if the company (Kunming Aoyang Import and Export Trading Co., Ltd) existed or not. We where aproached by them to buy rugs we produce and I got worried due to not only the big amount they intended to buy (during this dificult economical period) but also the not discussing price (very very strange). Anyway, please accept my thanks for saving my time, money and possible bankruptcy to the company I work for.
From now on I'll have news updated by registering with you.
Thank you again.
